William Charles Onka

William “Bill” Charles Onka, 67 of Independence, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at home.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Wayside Waifs animal shelter. Bill was born on March 8, 1957, in Independence, MO to Robert Lee Onka, Sr. and JoAnn (Martin) Onka. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence. Bill retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant after many years of service. He was Catholic by faith. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Bill enjoyed watching cooking shows, playing the lottery, and he loved animals, especially dogs. 

Bill is survived by three siblings, Deborah Joann Thompson and husband Greg of Bates City, MO, Diana Michele Reicher and husband Barry of Ozark, MO, and Robert “Bob” Lee Onka, Jr. of Bates City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Onka, Sr., and his mother, JoAnn McCarty; and a brother, David Martin Onka.
