William “Bill” Francis Blevins, 68, of Bates City, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
A private family service and burial with Military Honors will be held at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Fort Leavenworth, KS 66048. Bill was born on January 14, 1952, in Kansas City, MO to Warren and Ruth (Kirkpatrick) Blevins. He was a veteran of the United States Army. During his service time, Bill received his G.E.D., National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device and the Aircraft Crewman Badge. He was honorably discharged on March 1, 1971. Bill worked as a Union Pipefitter for local 533. On December 31, 2006, he was united in marriage to Karin McElroy in Odessa, MO. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Bill loved motorcycles and traveling.
In addition to his wife, Karin, survivors include a son, Warren Blevins of Kansas City, MO; a step-daughter, Laura Messer and husband Jason from Independence, MO; three step-sons, Rob McElroy and wife Leslie of Gladstone, MO, Danny McElroy of Buckner, MO, and Cody McElroy of Buckner, MO; a brother, Robert Blevins and wife Carol of Schofield, WI, a sister, Maxine Blevins of Oak Grove, MO; four step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Lloyd Blevins.
