Wendi Leigh Thompson

Wendi Leigh (Kirksey) Thompson, 55 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

Wendi was born on July 11, 1967, in Independence, MO to Nathan Paul and Vicki Leigh (Ernest) Kirksey.  She graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO.  After high school Wendi received her certification in cosmetology.  She was united in marriage to Gerald Thompson.  They later divorced but remained friends.  Wendi cleaned at the Trails Regional Library in Lexington and volunteered at the Lexington Cloths Closet.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Wendi enjoyed crafts.  Wendi will be remembered for her enjoyable sense of humor, her kindness and never being afraid to be herself.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse Thompson and wife Heather Calton of Lexington, MO and Derry Thompson and wife Alexie of Lexington, MO; three grandchildren, Natalie, Jacoby, and Jaxson Young; a brother, Monte Kirksey of Independence, MO; her best-friends, Molly and Maggie Wendi’s dogs; and many extended relatives and friends.
