Walter Larry Chisler, 70, of Rotonda West, Florida, formerly of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Bayfront Health Center in Port Charlotte, Fl.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A private burial will be in the Odessa City Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at

Walter was born on September 23, 1943 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Walter Lewis and Rose C. (Knight) Chisler. He graduated high school in Dover, Ohio. Walter was retired from Yellow Freight where he work as an over the road Truck Driver. On October 26, 1963 he was united in marriage to Nancy (Hoover) Chisler in Fort Martin, WV. In 2004 Walter served on the Board of Alderman for the city of Odessa and worked closely with the Odessa Police Department. Walter was a member of the Odessa Restoration Branch and was a past Priest. He loved John Deere Tractors and occasionally working in the garden.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by a daughter, Sherry Bert of Englewood, FL; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; three brothers, Roger Chisler and wife Marlene of Ohio, John Chisler and wife Tina of Kansas City and Steve Chisler of Kansas City; two sisters, Judy Mayfield of Lexington, MO and Carole Wirth of Akron, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a daughter, Kandy Sanders and two brothers, Carl and Jerry Chisler.
