William "Gene" Murry

William Eugene "Gene" Murry, 89, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa, MO with Reverend Larry Neil officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Church. Burial will be in the Greenton Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church of Odessa. Gene was born on July 5, 1923 in Wellington, MO to Daniel and Georgia Ann (Booker) Murry. After retiring from the Bendix Corporation in 1978 as a Senior Clerk Gene started a water hauling business. On December 30, 1944 he married Norma Jean Barker who survives of the home. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa and also a member of the Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge 476 in Odessa. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing the guitar with his family and friends, playing games with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Donald Eugene Murry and wife Kathy of Odessa, MO, and Michael Alan Murry and wife Sherry of Odessa, MO; four grandchildren, Justin Murry and wife Lisa, Brian Murry and wife Rachel, Brandon Murry and wife Melissa and Adam Murry and wife Jessica; six great grandchildren, Madalyn, Jackson, Aubrey, Brooklyn, Gabriel and Maci; two brothers, Kenneth Murry and wife Betty of Odessa, MO and Earl Murry and wife Alline of Odessa, MO; three sisters, Esther Brockmeyer of Odessa, MO, Reba Owings and husband Don of Odessa, MO and Bernice Barker and husband C.W. of Odessa, MO; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
