Vera Mae Gillespie went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31't, 2014. Funeral services for Mrs. Gillespie will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington, MO. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Prairie Ridge Christian Union Church, Polo, MO. or to First Baptist Church, Lexington, MO. Vera Mae Wood was born in Youngstown, MO on March 30, 1922, to Ira E. and Anna E. (Pitts) Wood. On March 9, 1939, she married Roy Levi Gillespie in Linneus, MO. Vera worked at Dunbrooke Sportswear for 35 years as a supervisor, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and preparing large, delicious meals for them. She was an avid seamstress, along with crocheting and quilting. She was a Christian by faith. She is survived by her daughters, Myrna S. (Don)@deceased) Molloy, and Sandra K. (Leo) Short, Lexington, MO, and Debra J. (David) Shannon, Polo, MO, 9 grandchildren, Pamela Molloy, Las Vegas, NV, Steven (Schona) Molloy, Las Vegas, NV, Gregory (Elsy) Molloy, Garden City, KS, Randall (Eric) Short, Kansas City, MO, Jeffrey (Cindy) Short, Lexington, MO. Susan Short, Dover, MO, Lisa (Michael) French, Smithville ,MO, Amanda (Nicholas) Agderian, New York, NY, and Rita Shannon (Danny) Jenkins, Smithville,MO. 14 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Eric) Morgan, Odessa, MO, Celeena Molloy, Las Vegas, NV, Kristen and Matthew Molloy, Las Vegas, NV, Austin, Aaron, and Alyssa Molloy, Garden City, KS, Heather Ray, Richmond, MO, Sarah Short, Lexington, MO, Blake Short, Higginsville, MO, Colten and Dawson French, Smithville, MO, and Aubree Petula and Fallon Jenkins, Smithville, MO, and 4 great-great grandchildren, Jade Teichman, Lexington, MO, Madysyn, Kiler, and Lynlee Morgan, Odessa, MO, two sisters, Wava White and Ruby Reed, E. Peoria IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, six brothers, and a son-in-law.
