Thelma “June” (Miller) Snyder, 91 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Lafayette County Health Center in Lexington, MO surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. 1st St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Interment will be in the Odessa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Odessa Methodist Children’s Ministry or Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association. June was born on October 29, 1933, in Osborne County, Kansas to Charles Edmond and Flora Edith (Marshall) Miller. She graduated in 1951 from Osborne High School. On May 27, 1951, June was united in marriage to Walter Jonce Snyder in Cawker City, Kansas. Walter preceded her in death on June 17, 1999. June spent her early years as a phone operator in Russell, KS, once she and Walter moved to Odessa, she spent many years caring for the children of Odessa, and she retired as the food service director for the Odessa Nursing Home. June was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Odessa, United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School. When her children were in their youth, June helped with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts.
Survivors include three children, Fred (Janice) Snyder, Jim (Donna) Snyder and Janet (Jerry) Buis of all Odessa, MO; a daughter-in-law, Susan Snyder of Odessa, MO; six grandchildren, Keary (Scott) Zaeske, Ryan Snyder, Angela Hardy, Lindsey (Steve) Blew, Ashlee (Tyler) Snyder-Cox, and Austin (Elizabeth) Snyder; 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; June was one of 11 children, and is survived by two brothers, Ed Miller and Bob Miller; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by two children, Nancy Lou Snyder in infancy and a son, Douglas Snyder; two granddaughters, Brooke Snyder and Jerrica Coin; and eight brothers and sisters.
