Stuart McRay Sullivan

July 2, 1960 — March 1, 2023

 

Stuart McRay Sullivan, 62, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076. 

 

Stuart was born on July 2, 1960, in San Diego, California to Victor C. and Gloanne (Acree) Sullivan.  After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and later served in the Missouri National Guard.  While Stuart was training in Washington with the Army Mount Saint Helens erupted and he was part of the recovery and cleanup team.  Stuart was a member of the Odessa V.F.W. Post 5675.  He was a painter working in residential construction for many years.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Stuart enjoyed fishing, traveling the world, including every country in Europe and the Middle East.  He was a history enthusiast.   

 

Survivors include four children, Stefan Sullivan and wife Jamie of Holden, MO, Carmen Freeman and husband Richard of Lone Jack, MO, Virginia Sullivan and companion Michael Sitz of Warrensburg, MO, and Jon Rogers of Odessa, MO; five grandchildren, Payton Frakes, Anneliese Sullivan , Eli Sullivan, Gabriel Freeman, and Samuel Freeman; two sisters, Roseanne Gawith of Overland Park, KS and Virginia Pointer and husband Max of Lone Jack, MO; three brothers, Darryl Sullivan, Blaine Sullivan, and Shawn Sullivan, all of Odessa, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Stuart was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Sullivan.
