Stephen “Stevie” Francis Schwartze, 65, of Odessa, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Kindred Hospital Northland in Kansas City, MO surrounded by family.
A Rosary will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022, at St. George Catholic Church, 714 S. 3rd Street, Odessa, MO. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to St. George Catholic Church or Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association. Steve was born on April 25, 1957, to Leonard Herman and Anna Marie (Larman) Schwartze in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1975. Steve worked for GM Leads Plant for over 10 years. After the plant closed, he started working as a heavy equipment operator and eventually retired after 23 years of service from Beemer Construction. He was a member of IUOE Local 101 and St. George Catholic Church in Odessa, MO. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Steve enjoyed lending his hands to help many out by doing what he enjoyed the most, working on cars and in his shop.
Survivors include two sisters, Jeanne Wade (Jerry) of Odessa, MO, and Margie Blucas (Pete) of Springfield, MO; one brother, Bob Schwartze (Iris) of Odessa, MO; a brother-in-law, Dale Durham of Bates City, MO; a sister-in-law, Julie Schwartze of Pacific, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Beverley Thomsen, Patricia Durham, and Joyce Schwartze; and a brother, Paul Schwartze.
