Stephen "Steve" Dale Young

Stephen Dale Young, 73 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at home surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Cedron Church in Cedron Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held at 2:00 p.m., at the Cedron Church in Cedron Township. Rite of Committal will take place at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association or to the family in care of Mary Young for a charity to be decided at later date. Steve was born on August 13, 1948, in Buckner, MO to Dr. Thomas Jeffries Young and Dorothy Marie (Sargis) Young. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966 and attended Central Missouri State University for four years. On May 6, 1978, Steve married Mary Elayne Kueffer in California, MO. He was a member of the St. George Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Mulegaters. Steve retired from the Operating Engineers Local 101 in Kanas City, MO and worked for Builders/Holiday in Bonner Springs, MO. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Steve enjoyed golfing with friends, Bulldog and Mules football, playing pool and socializing.
Survivors include Steve’s wife, Mary Young of Odessa, MO; two children, Stephanie Young-Chapman and husband Chris of Odessa, MO and Scott Young and wife Shannon of Odessa, MO; six grandchildren, Cole Chapman, Landyn Chapman, Devonn Ritchie, Garrett Young, Bennett Young and Reese Young; one great grandson, Emerson Ritchie; two brothers, Dr. Michael Young and wife Mary of Jefferson City and Patrick Young and wife Mona of Russellville, MO; one sister-in-law, Wendy Young of Lone Elm, MO; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers, Tim and Tom Young.
