Shirley Marie Sanders, 76, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524, with Reverend Ken Jobe officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the ASPCA. Shirley was born on April 25, 1938 in Versailles, MO to James and Grace (Merrit) Branson. She graduated with honors from Versailles High School in 1956. In 1957 Shirley married Gerald Franklin Sanders in Stover, MO. Shirley loved spending time with her family, reading, and taking care of her home on the hill.
Survivors include four children, Michael S. Sanders of Odessa, MO, Victor D. Sanders and wife Heather of Independence, MO, Gerald W. Sanders of Odessa, MO and Terri L. Sanders of Independence, MO; six grandchildren, Stephen W. Sanders, James J. Sanders, Anglica Sanders, Wesley A. Stover, Nathan J. Stover and Nichole T. Zimmerman; seven great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by three children, Jeffery D. Sanders, Sherry L. Zimmerman and Chris S. Sanders; one brother, James Branson; and three sisters, Helen Stafford, Mildred Branson and Francis Branson.
