Sherry Lynn Billings, 60, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Odessa Middle School, 607 S. 5th St., Odessa, MO, 64076, with Ministers Hal Davis and Barbara Davis officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Odessa Middle School. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Odessa R-7 Public Foundation. Sherry was born on September 29, 1954 in Warrensburg, MO to Wilbur L. and Norma (Bradbury) Ewbank. She graduated from the Odessa High School in 1972. In 1975 she graduated from Graceland College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. On August 30, 1975 she married John Neal Billings at Pleasant Heights Community of Christ in Independence, MO. She earned a Specialist Degree for Education Administration from Lindenwood University in St. Louis. She became the Principal of Odessa Middle School on July 28, 2005. Sherry was a member of the Community of Christ and was also ordained as a Minister. She was a member of MSTA. Sherry loved traveling to the beach to see the ocean, writing poetry, and traveling to places with historical significance. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include husband, John Billings and her mother, Norma Ewbank, Odessa, MO; three children, Derrick Billings and wife Gemma of Bloomington, Illinois, Jared Billings and wife Jennifer of Madison, Wisconsin and Pam Rauch and husband Dave of Stansbury, Utah; two grandchildren, Michael and Lindsay Rauch; brother, Richard Ewbank of Bryan, Texas; and sister, Karen Roberts and husband Scott of Lamoni, Iowa; ten nieces and nephews, Eric Hidy, Kristy Hidy, Craig Hidy, Nathan Ewbank, Shawn Ewbank, Eva Roberts, Erin Roberts, Curt Roberts, Michael Granato and Leslie Granato.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father.
