Sharon Kay Strain

Sharon Kay (Barnett) Strain, 78 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Silverado Care Community in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Sharon was born on June 16, 1946, in Warrensburg, MO to Billy M. and Helen M. (Haggard) Barnett. She graduated in 1964 from Odessa High School in Odessa, MO. On September 10, 1966, Sharon was united in marriage to Gary Louis Williams at Elm Springs Baptist Church in Kingsville, MO. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1977. Sharon worked for Western Electric in Lee’s Summit, MO, the Odessa R-7 School District as a Teacher’s Aide and Secretary, and retired from State Farm Insurance in Independence, MO. On July 1, 1994, Sharon was united in marriage to James Allen Strain. After retirement, Sharon helped James full-time at his company SeAirlan World Tours in Hardin, MO. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2021. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Sharon enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, scrapbooking, cooking, flower gardening, and hosting family events. 

Sharon is survived by two sons, Dan (Lindsay Gray) Williams of Live Oak, Texas and Greg (Kim) Williams of Odessa, MO; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Mary Jo) Barnett of Wooster, OH; and many relatives and friends. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.
