Ruth Orpha Corn, 83, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Odessa surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524 with Pastor Randy Messer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a Church of donor’s choice. Ruth was born on November 2, 1931 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Rudolph and Olga (Lindahl) Dahl. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in Albert Lea, MN. On July 1, 1950 Ruth married Paul N. Corn in Harrison, Arkansas. Paul preceded her in death on May 29, 2009. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oak Grove, MO. She was a Lifetime Member of the Odessa V.F.W. Post 5675 ladies Auxiliary. In addition to spending time with her family and friend, Ruth liked reading, cooking, embroidering, John Wayne and all kinds of animals.
Survivors include, eight children, Craig Corn, Rick Corn and wife Pam, Nancy Corn, Bill Corn, Mike Corn, and Diane Barker all of Odessa, MO, Debbie Kaat and husband Ralph of Raytown, MO and Lisa Volskay and husband Randy of Holden, MO; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother Duane Dahl of Colorado Springs, CO; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Toby.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by three children, John Corn, Randy Corn and Dennis Wayne Corn in infancy; a brother, Bob Dahl and a sister, Janice Schmidt.
