Russell “Rusty” Irl O’Brien, 60, of Ocala, Florida (formerly of Odessa, Missouri) passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Ocala Regional Hospital in Ocala, FL.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Rusty was born on August 29, 1961, to Alan Irl and Phyllis Eileen (Hughes) O’Brien in Independence, MO. He was an Odessa High School graduate. Rusty worked in the maintenance claims department for Closetmaid, Inc. in Ocala, FL.
In addition to spending time with family and friends he enjoyed fishing and air boating.
Rusty is survived by his parents; two sons, Joseph and Christopher O’Brien, both of Ocala, FL; a brother, Darrel Leslie O’Brien of Ocala, FL; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Rusty was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Lee (O’Brien) Thomas.
