Russell Edward Mansell, 86, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday November 16, 2017 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. An Inurnment for Russell and his wife Alice will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 1, 2017 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Russell was born on October 1, 1931 in Napoleon, MO to Robert Lee and Edna Frances (Hergemueller) Mansell. He married Alice May (Breuer) Mansell on August 16, 1952 in Buckner, MO. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from August 1952 until being Honorably Discharged in August of 1954. Russell was a logger and owned and operated a saw mill for many years. In addition to spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Survivors include six children, John Mansell and wife Tracy of Odessa, MO, Ronald Mansell and wife Susan of Odessa, MO, Donald Mansell and wife Brenda of Wellington, MO, Robert Mansell of Ignacio, Colorado, Michael Mansell and wife Karen of Bates City, MO and Terry Mansell and wife Pam of Boonville, MO; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; one brother, John Mansell and wife Dianna of Napoleon, MO; four sisters, Dorothy Schnittker of Wellington, MO, Vera Breuer and husband Gerald of Napoleon, MO, Louise Campbell and husband David of Salem, Arkansas and Judy Crowley and husband Ray of Napoleon, MO; a sister-in-law, Diana Mansell of Napoleon, MO, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Russell was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Mansell and Everette “Jake” L. Mansell and two sisters, Margaret Braxdale and Mary Johnson.
