Ruby May Utz , 98, of Lexington, MO passed away Monday February 24, 2025 in Warrensburg, MO at Country Club Care and Rehab.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Friday, February 28, 2025 at Walker-Nadler- Fuller Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Adopt a Pound Pal Building Fund or Friends of the Friendless. Ruby was born June7, 1926 in Excelsior Springs, MO to James and Opal (Shepard) Harris. Ruby was united in marriage on September 5, 1943 to Don Utz in Lexington, MO. He preceded her in death in 1978 at the age of 53 leaving her a young widow at age 52. Ruby was a devoted partner in their Don Utz Stables & Farm business where she supported the work of her husband who was a professional Saddle Bred horse trainer and breeder. She continued living on the farm and taking care of 80 acres until 1994 when she moved into town.
Ruby was employed by several businesses over the years after becoming a widow with her last employment being Wentworth Military Academy, where she was the receptionist for over 20 years. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Elks Club where she loved playing cards on Friday nights with friends. Ruby loved her family the most and would give up anything to be with them and help them. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed family dinners.
Ruby is survived by her children, Don Utz, Jr. (Lylette) of Parkville, MO and Sue (Jim) Kenney of Lexington, MO, grandchildren Missy Utz Martin (Sam), Megan Utz Foster (Rob) Jessica Utz Johnson (Matt), Ryan Kenney (Kimberly), Mendy Kenney Clifford (Joe). Great grandchildren Jakob Martin, Tucker Martin, Lucas Kenney, Emerson Kenney , Adler Kenney, Maddox Johnson, Hayes Johnson and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Shirley Harris Shriver of Lee’s Summit and many nieces and nephews.
