Roy La Verne Saylor, 97 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at the New Haven Living Center in Odessa, MO.
The family will host a private inurnment at a later date in the Bates City Cemetery. Per Roy’s wishes cremation. Roy was born on January 15, 1919 in Hayes Center, Nebraska to Roy I. and Mable Ann (Morehead) Saylor. He graduated from Wiggins High School in Wiggins, Colorado. Roy was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving from December 14, 1941 until December 13, 1945. He also served in World War II and received numerous medals and awards. Roy was a lifetime member of the Odessa VFW Post 5675. On March 3, 1946 he married Cleta (Rivers) Saylor in Wiggins, Colorado. She survives of the home. Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa. He was a Carpenter by trade and was also a Farmer. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Roy enjoyed traveling and dancing.
Roy is survived by his wife Cleta Saylor, of Odessa, MO; very good family friends, Jesse and Bonita Stever of Odessa, MO; and nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lynn Saylor; and two sisters, Iris Helget and Helen Dellaska.
