Roscoe Jackie “Jack” Brown, 83 of Odessa, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2025, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Jack was born on September 17, 1941, in Sibley, Missouri to Samuel Roscoe and Jessie Marie (Hontz) Brown. In 1959, Jack graduated from Fort Osage. Jack was united in marriage on June 18, 1960, to Dorothy “Elanie” (Culbertson) Brown in Miami, Oklahoma. Jack worked many years as a lineman and was a member of the IBEW Local 53 for over 60 years. He owned and operated Brown Electric for 10 years then the Odessa Laundromat for several years following. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Odessa. He was an active leader for the Odessa Youth Fair and Mighty MO 4-H club and played a significant role as one of the founding members of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce. In 1989, he took his passion further by starting the Chamber Rodeo, an event that continues to bring joy to many in the area. As a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Jack held season tickets for an incredible 45 years. Jack’s greatest joy stemmed from his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life. He could often be seen at their rodeos, sporting events and any other activity they chose to participate in. His family was his biggest and proudest accomplishment in life.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Elaine Brown of the home; three daughters, Shelly (Mike) Ewing of Odessa, MO, Stacey (James) Barker of Odessa, MO, and Cathy (Kyle) Thompson of Odessa, MO; six grandchildren, Tilor (Justin) Caswell, Clara Morris, Kali (David) Baldwin, Kelsey (Clint) Legate, Dalton Morris and Cody (Emily) Cox; twelve great-grandchildren, Tysyn, Taydyn, Wyatt, Harper, Boone, Kelby, Hank, Buckley, Carter, Polly, Pearl, and Caden; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with both his parents, Jack was preceded by a daughter, Cheryl Brown, and two sisters, Peg Sharp and Pat Reece.
