Ronald "Ronnie" Armor Bertz

Ronald “Ronnie” Armor Bertz, 74, lifelong resident of Mayview, Missouri, currently residing in Higginsville, MO passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at home.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Mayview, MO, 109 Marshall St., Mayview, MO, 64071. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Burial will be in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Marvin Chapel Cemetery, 15500 Wheatley Rd., Mayview, MO, 64071. Ronnie was born on November 27, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Armor & Elizabeth (Moore) Bertz. He graduated in 1959 from Mayview High School. Ronnie married Virginia Delona (Tye) Bertz on June 17, 1962 in Mayview, MO, she survives of the home. Ronnie was a lifelong farmer and raised registered Shorthorn Cattle on the family farm, Meadow Lane Farms. In addition to farming, he worked for the USDA Farm Service Agency as a Loan Specialist retiring after 38 years. He and Virginia are members of the First Baptist Church in Mayview. Ronnie also served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a Past President and current member of the Lafayette County Cattleman’s Assoc., Board Member of the Missouri Cattleman’s Assoc., President and member of the Mayview MO Foundation, Past President and current member of the Mayview Lion’s Club, Member of the Missouri Shorthorn Assoc. and the American Shorthorn Assoc., past member and leader of the 40-Ville 4H, longtime supporter of the FFA, Board Member of the Marvin Chapel Cemetery and a member of the Mid-MO Tractor Club. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Ronnie enjoyed raising cattle and was an avid reader.

In addition to his wife Virginia, Ronnie is survived by three children, Rhonda Barnes and husband Bob, Greg Bertz and wife Kim, and Harold Bertz and wife Melisa, all of Mayview, MO; seven grandchildren, Tim Barnes and wife Kerri, Jamie Philipps and husband Seth, Jillian, Abby, Alli, Molly and August Bertz; two great grandchildren, Kinley and Tucker Philipps.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents.
