Robert Dale Windsor

April 20, 1939 — October 27, 2024

Odessa, Missouri

Robert (Bob) Dale Windsor was born on April 20, 1939, to John Andrew and Mary Ann Bray Windsor in Odessa, MO. He graduated Odessa High School in the class of 1957 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1957-1959 in Shopenberg, Germany. Bob married Mary Jane Hull on February 2, 1962, in the historic Thomas Dyer home in Odessa. Bob was a welder and inspector at Ford Motor Company and a proud member of United Auto Workers Local 249. Recognized as Staff Sergeant Windsor, he continued to serve his country in the Missouri National Guard, 110th Engineers before retiring in 1999. Bob passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

To know Bob was to love Bob. His grin was equal parts infectious and ornery and you never knew what he might say, but it was certain you'd be laughing after he did. A waiting room at a doctor's appointment was his muse and to be with him in such an environment and watch him work his magic was an honor, a delight, and sometimes a bit of a fright, hoping everyone comprehended his special brand of humor! His hobbies included gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing, and the big stories that came home from a day well spent on his boat on Truman Lake.

More widely known among family-- and subsequently their many friend groups who also held him so dear to their hearts-- as Bobby. A nickname originating with his oldest granddaughter but one that withheld the test of time as the chipper and mischievous nature of the name simply fit his good-natured and charming personality. Bobby was the epitome of an exceptional grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He never missed their events, and many memories were made as he transported them to and from school, practice, an orthodontist appointment, or simply to Sonic for a milkshake and drink together-- always in his Ford Truck that only played George Jones. His generosity was unmatched-- Bobby loved well and loved big and you never left him without an offering of a piece of chewing gum or a package of M&Ms. Small gestures that were consistent and delivered with a smile and a wink that made him everyone's favorite grandpa.

Survivors include his son, Tom George, Calhoun, MO; his daughter, Robin Dyer (Marlon), Odessa; his four grandchildren, Shelly Long (Kevin), Grain Valley; Donielle Stephenson (Bryan), Shawnee, KS; Erica Shippy (Ryan), Atticus Dyer (Bailey), Warrensburg; his 12 great-grandchildren: Keagan Robert Long, Logan Long, Adi Truta, Roman Dyer, Ian Dyer, Laurel Dyer, June Shippy, Smith Shippy, Annabeth Shippy, Georgia Shippy, Mary Kate Shippy, and Calvin Robert Shippy; his dear friend Deloris Jones, Odessa; his brother JD Windsor (Vickie), Odessa; his nephew, Scott Windsor (Doni), Odessa; his niece Heidi Windsor, Kansas City; his great nephews Austin Windsor (Stephanie), Logan Windsor, and Ethan Gooch. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Barton, and his daughter, Debbie Stephenson.
