Robert LaVerne Jacobs, 84, of Odessa, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, Missouri. Funeral services will be Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00am at the Odessa Church of Christ. Visitation will also be at the church on Monday from 10:00am to 11:00am. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Odessa Church of Christ. Memories and condolences may be left at www.ralphojones.com.
Bob was born January 14, 1933 in Macon, Missouri to Ira LeRoy and Elizabeth Belle (Thompson) Jacobs. On November 27, 1957, in Sibley, Missouri, he married Shirley Joan Wilson. Bob was an Army Veteran. After 30 years of service, he retired from Ford in 1987. After retirement he and Shirley worked for the State of Missouri as volunteers for the Department of Natural Resources for 14 years. He was formerly the mayor of Sibley and was a past member of the Lion’s Club.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Garland and husband Dennis, of Odessa and Robin Barnes of Leawood, Kansas; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold Jacobs, Ray Jacobs and Dean Jacobs; and six sisters, Sylvia Shoemaker, Vera Shoemaker, Maxine Masden, Ethel Slater, Pearl Duncan and Kathleen Cockrum.
