Robert “Bob” Melvin Martin, 76 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO surrounded by family.

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 12507 Mt. Tabor Rd, Odessa, MO, 64076.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.  Memories of Bob and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. 

 

Bob was born on April 30, 1946, in Kansas City, MO to George Robert and Belvia Bernice (Cunningham) Martin.  He graduated in 1964 from Peculiar High School in Peculiar, MO.  Bob was united in marriage to Wanda Louise Stewart on October 25, 1985, in Independence, MO.  He retired from Yellow Freight after 30 plus years of service as a truck driver.  Bob was a member of the Teamsters Local 41 in Kansas City and the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Odessa.  Bob enjoyed fishing, horses, all things cars, collecting, antiques, spending time on his farm, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. 

 

Survivors include Bob’s wife, Wanda Martin of Odessa, MO; three children, Daphne Holley of Huntington, Indiana, Adam Robert Martin (Taylor Rogers) of Buckner, MO, and Katherine Martin (Brett Wallace) Knob Noster, MO; nine grandchildren, Ronnie Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Rochelle Phillips, Cassie Tooley, Corrine Tooley, Sophia Martin, Brandon Clemmons, Stephen Wallace, and Kaydin Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Owen Hamilton, Caroline Price, and Conner Price; five sisters, Dianna Gaskins (Jerry) Tifton, Georgia, Tricia Stanfa (Ron) of Birmingham, Alabama, Georgia Youngblood of Blue Springs, MO, Cheryl Luney of Blue Springs, MO, and Deborah Sims of Tifton, GA; one brother, Doug Martin of Grandview, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.   

 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Holley; and three nephews, Steven, Richard, and Riley.
