Robert Lee Wilson

Robert L. Wilson, 76, Oak Grove, MO passed away November 7, 2013. Bob, as he was called by family and friends, was born December 9, 1936 to Woodrow and Emma Clester Wilson in Richmond, MO. Bob married Barbara J. Wipperman October 22, 1959 in Wellington, MO. Bob grew up in Odessa, MO where he graduated from high school in 1954. He began work at MoDot as a maintenance man and retired as a Maintenance Superintendent in 1999 after 45 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Bob loved fishing, hunting and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed traveling after retirement and always looked forward to their annual trout fishing trip in Colorado. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Wilson, Overland Park, KS and Stacey OConnell and husband, Wes, Lees Summit, MO; sister, MaryJane DeAtley, Odessa, MO; three grandchildren, Ian and Kelsie OConnell and Monique Wilson; several nieces and nephews and a host of long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Norris. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Oak Grove Methodist Church, 15th and Harding St., Oak Grove, MO. Visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the Church. Burial will be at a later date.
