Robert “Bob” Alfred Bishop, 82, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri formerly of Odessa, MO passed away on Saturday August 31, 2019 at the John Knox Village Hospice House in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 67076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Bob’s wish was for everyone to dress in casual clothes and wear your favorite Chiefs attire. Bob was born on January 18, 1937 in Higginsville, MO to Clarence Alfred and Angie B. (Barker) Bishop. He graduated in 1955 from Odessa High School in Odessa, MO. Bob was married on December 2, 1958 and to that union two sons were born. He worked construction for 8 years after high school before transitioning to the sales field. Bob worked for various companies throughout his life. He retired from the Plyco Corporation where he sold agriculture building materials. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Army and received the Good Conduct Medal. On August 17, 1991 he was united in marriage to Carol (Kreisel) Bishop in Texas. A very special person who excelled at being a partner in marriage. These were very good years. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Bob enjoyed fishing and collecting coins and stamps.
Survivors include Bob’s wife, Carol Bishop of Lee’s Summit, MO; two children, Bart Rodney Bishop and wife Regan of Blue Springs, MO and Kevin Keith Bowling and wife Kari of Green Forrest, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother Gary Duane Bishop and wife Grace of Springfield, MO and one sister Betty Lorene Schloman of Odessa, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Brett Robert Bishop.
