Richard E. Williams, 79, Lexington, MO passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Richard was born June 8, 1936 in Lexington to Louis D. Williams and Isabel Elna Hervey Williams. He was married to Berta Clements Williams in Lexington. Richard was a 1955 graduate of Douglas High School. In the fall of 1955 Richard joined the Navy, serving four years. Richard had retired from Lake City Munitions after 30 plus years where he was a tool setter. Richard was an artist, he loved drawing, singing and sports.
Richard is survived by his wife, Berta. Children, Russell Williams, Grandview, MO, Benjamin Moss, Lexington, Rosalind Lane, Blue Springs, and Nicole Williams, Higginsville. a brother, Harold Slaughter and wife, Lois, Lexington and a sister, Florence Banks and husband, Warren, Lexington, a great-aunt, Ruby Antwine and husband, James, Raytown, MO. Richard has several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sonya Williams, and brothers, Louis H. Williams, Floyd Jenkins, Kenneth Jenkins, and Donald Slaughter.
Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Second Baptist Church of Lexington. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, MO. Visitation from 12 p.m. until service time on Monday. Memorials can be made to the Second Baptist Church of Lexington.
