Richard Peerson

Lloyd Richard Peerson, 87, of Higginsville, Missouri formerly Mayview, MO passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524 with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 900 College Boulevard, Suite 250, Leawood, Kansas, 66211. Richard was born on February 2, 1929 in Odessa, MO to Lloyd Thomas and Mildred Virginia (Campbell) Peerson. He graduated from Bates City High School. On July 4, 1947 he married Betty Lou (Conrad) Peerson in Oak Grove, MO. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2003. Richard was a farmer and retired from farming in 1983. After retirement he started Peerson Mini-Storage in Higginsville, MO and was currently the owner and operator. Richard was a Charter Member of the Odessa Saddle Club and also a member of the APA League at Ricochets Bar and Grill in Odessa. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting.

Survivors include three children, Beverly Jane Jones of Higginsville, MO, Richard “Dick” Peerson and wife Kathy of Jefferson City, MO, and Uteva MacKay of Odessa, MO; eight grandchildren, Chris Jones of Higginsville, MO, Bryce Wood of Kansas City, MO, Bruce Peerson of Odessa, MO, Kelley Ogletree of Jefferson City, MO, Kelly Banes of Bates City, MO, Sandy Duncan of Richmond, MO, Brandie Westerhold of Odessa, MO and Nicole Lockhart of Bates City, MO; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Lynda K. Quick and husband Jerry of Buckner, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Peerson, a son-in-law, Larry D. Jones.
