Harold Lester Brown, 88, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Odessa with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the Church. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Odessa Senior Center. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ralphojones.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Lester was born on October 30, 1924 in Odessa, MO to Charles and Ivy Grace (Powers) Brown. He was a 1943 graduate of Odessa High School. On September 11, 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on January 30, 1946. While in the Army he was an Ammunition Handler, He also received a Bronze Star Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was employed with Sears retail where he worked in the catalogue warehouse until retiring in 1986 after 34 years. On June 9, 1983 he married Blanche Maria Faulwell in Odessa, MO, who survives of the home. Lester and Blanche are members of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. Lester is a Deacon and was a Sunday School Teacher. He loved to go bowling, gardening, yard work, farming and spending time with his friends and family. Lester has a gentle soul and is a Godley man, he will be greatly missed. Survivors include Lesters wife Blanche Brown of the home; two daughters, Ramona Weeks and husband Lee of Odessa, MO and Maria Perrault and husband Michael of Yucca Valley, California; two sons, Edwin Faulwell and wife JoAnna of Lexington, MO and Garry Faulwell and wife Mia of Waldorf, Maryland; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a niece Lana Farnsworth and husband Herb of Shawnee, Kansas. In addition to his parents Lester was preceded in death by a sister Mary Maun.
