Rexford “Rex” Curtis Cook, 83 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s East Hospital surrounded by his loving family. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the funeral home. Rex was born on August 13, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Harold Albert and Galetha (Nicholson) Cook. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in Spring Hill, KS. On July 14, 1962, Rex was united in marriage to Janet Baker in Miami, Oklahoma. Rex owned and operated All Bright Painting for 20 plus years and later worked for Ritchie Bros. in Odessa. He was a member of the painter’s union (IUPAT District Council 3) in Kansas City. Rex was also a member of the Odessa Restoration Branch. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Rex enjoyed relaxing at the Lake of the Ozarks. 

Rex is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janet Cook of Odessa, MO; four children, Rexford Curtis (Nicola) Cook, Jr. of Burlingame, California, Russell (DeLisa) Cook of Blue Springs, MO, Terri (Kelley) Miller of Odessa, MO, and Stephanie (Thomas) Bybee of Centerview, MO; six grandchildren, Angela Cook, Ryan Cook, Loren (Vinh) Lam, Courtney (Chandler) Elliott, Kailyn Bybee, and Tyler Miller; four great-grandchildren, Nora Lam, Keaton Elliott, Sylvie Lam, and Oakleigh Elliott; one sister, Barbara Findley of Spring Hill, KS and one brother, Ronald (Dottie) Cook of Louisburg, KS; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Warman and Shirley Favinger.
