RALPH E. MEADOR Ralph E. Meador, 95, of Lexington, MO passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at Research Medical Center with family at his side. Ralph was born April 11, 1920 in Pitcher, OK, the son of Oscar and Sarah Yeoman Meador. He married Thelma Lucille Goodman on November 3, 1940 at Joplin, MO. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2005. Mr. Meador was the Owner/Operator of KLEX AM/FM Radio Stations in Lexington from 1955 to 1970. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Meador was a member of the National Association of Broadcasters, National Radio Broadcasters Association, and the National Association of Media Brokers. He was also a member of state broadcast associations in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, Iowa and Nebraska. He was inducted into the Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2013, received the Kansas �Friend of Broadcasters� award in 2010, was honored as a Life or Complimentary Member of several associations and in 2010 on his 90th birthday, was honored by the National Association of Broadcasters for his long service to broadcasting. Ralph is a member of the Second Baptist Church of Liberty, Missouri. He is an Ordained Deacon in the Baptist Church and, through the years, held positions of President of the Board of Directors, Church Moderator, Chairman of the Deacons and several Committee positions in the Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW; was President of the Joplin Junior Chamber of Commerce Joplin, Missouri; President of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce; and Vice-President of the Lexington Lions Club, Lexington, Missouri. His joy was having coffee each morning with the Lexington mens coffee group. He loved broadcasting, fishing and sharing time with family, friends and all their lovable pets. Mr. Meador is survived by his children: Randy Meador and wife, Lynn, Kansas City, MO and Carla Fritts and husband, Steve, Louisville, KY. Grandchildren: Ryan (Laura) Meador and Katie (Ryan) Meador Thomas and Emily (Greg), Matthew (Jami), and Elizabeth Fritts. Great-grandchildren: Mattie and Riley Meador. In addition to his wife, Thelma, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Walter, Ray and Ora Lee, two infant brothers and his sister, Esther Counts. Services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Second Baptist Church of Liberty, MO. Visitation will be 11 AM, Thursday until service time at the church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, at Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington. A visitation will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington, MO.
