Phyllis Jean Pryor

Phyllis Jean (Coffey) Pryor, 90, of Independence, Missouri passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, Missouri surrounded by her loving family. 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home,306 S. 2^nd St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO.  Memorials are suggested to the Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association or American Diabetes Association.  Memories of Phyllis and condolences for her family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page. 

Phyllis was born on August 5, 1933, in Macks Creek, MO to Aubrey Justin and Ada May (Martin) Coffey.  She graduated from Odessa High School in Odessa, MO.  Phyllis worked for the Odessa Shoe Factory and then for Bendix as a Secretary.  On June 15, 1963, Phyllis was united in marriage to Harold “Gene” Pryor in Odessa, MO.  Gene preceded her in death on March 28, 2023.  Phyllis was a member of Connection Point Church, formerly First Baptist Church of Raytown.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Phyllis enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson and Colorado, sewing, and assembling family photo albums.  

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Kelly Jean (Pryor) Overbay and husband Scott of Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Kory Overbay of Overland Park, KS; a sister, Pat Coffey of Odessa, MO; a sister-in-law, Judy Coffey of Odessa, MO; a brother-in-law, Donald Pryor of Warrensburg, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Coffey.
