Peggy Rose Johnson

Peggy Rose (Mefford) Johnson, 91, of Wellington, Missouri passed away on Sunday October 10, 2021, at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home in Concordia, Missouri, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Odessa Church of Christ, 210 N 4th St, Odessa, MO, 64076. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the church. Interment will follow at Corder Calvary Cemetery in Corder, MO. Memorials are suggested to Odessa Church of Christ, Shirkey Hospice, or Lutheran Good Shepherd Home Nursing Staff. Peggy was born on January 21, 1930, to James R. and Cleetis “Kate” (Pruett) Mefford in Stockton, MO. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Mathis. They later divorced. On November 16, 2006, Peggy was united in marriage to Roger Lee Johnson in Marshall, MO. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2018. She was a homemaker. Peggy attended the Odessa Church of Christ. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed training horses, dancing, flowers, western movies, and loved all animals. She was very much a do-it-yourself person, when she put her mind to it, there wasn’t a project she couldn’t do.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cohron (Don) of Odessa, MO; Margaret Kohlstaedt (Brian) of Wellington, MO, eight grandchildren, Donnie, Michael, and Tim Cohron, Kevin Mathis, Krystal Petsch, Tara Klamm, Brianne Wright, and Seth Kohlstaedt; ten great grandchildren, Jade, Ryan, Kylie, Kinsley, Karrine, Atticus, Estelle, Malachi, Everett, and Thaddeus; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In addition to her husband, Roger, Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Mathis; a granddaughter, Angela Cohron; and two brothers, James and John Mefford.
