Bud Jones, 65, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 100 W. OO Hwy, Odessa, MO, 64076, with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Burial will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Bud was born on May 4, 1948 in Brookfield, MO to Prosser Ray and Edith (Coffman) Jones. He was a 1966 graduate of the New Cambria High School in New Cambria, MO. After high school Bud graduated from the University Of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Journalism. On December 7, 1974 he was united in marriage to Christy Ann Jones (ODell) in Lexington, MO, who survives of the home. He was an Insurance Agent and worked for the Lexington News for many years until moving to Odessa in 2000 to work for the Odessan as the News Editor. He was also employed by the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home as a Funeral Assistant. Bud was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in the Choir. He was a member of the Lexington Moose Lodge 1161 since 1985. He organized the Will Rank Memorial Chili Dinner each year, enjoyed coaching t-ball and baseball. Buds hobbies included gardening, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Gene Jones of Clinton, MO, Jeff Jones and wife Brenda of Odessa, MO, Johnna Lorenz and husband Kurt of Odessa, MO, Jason Jones of Columbia, MO and Anna Liljedahl and husband Bjorn of Taby, Sweden; six grandchildren, Kristen Simmons, Lauren Simmons, Brandon Lorenz, Morgann Lorenz, Freja Liljedahl and Hjalmar Liljedahl; a brother, Bobby Jones of Jefferson City, MO, a sister, Annella Crandall of Hannover, IL, a brother in law, Bob Bohling and a sister in law Mary Jones; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jones and a sister, Shirley Bohling.
