Wilmer Trell Jones, 91, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. There will be no services per Mr. Jones wish. Wilmer was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky to Edmond Harrison and Beulah Florence (Bruner) Jones. He spent five years in the United States Army prior to & during WWII, and served in the European Theater. He received a battlefield commission and attained the rank of Captain. He was the company commander of his unit when the hostilities ceased in Europe. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his action during the Battle Of The Bulge. On June 3, 1943 he married Theo Ava Lee Nicely in Ft. Smith, Arkansas who survives of the home. He loved to garden, fish and going to horseraces. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Karen Pauline (Jones) Brown of Ft. Scott, Kansas; three sisters, Freida Winningham of Greenfield, Indiana, Norma Coleman of Zionsville, IN and Betty Gooch of Pompano Beach, Florida; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Wilmer was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford Jones, Lester Jones, Grant Jones and Willard Jones.
