Angels called Nancy Blanche Jenkins home at the age of 94 on May 6, 2016. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on August 13, 1921 to Nannie Lou and William Robert Breeden. She was one of five children whom preceded her in death. She and her family survived well during the "Great Depression" running a boarding house and upon graduation from high school she moved to the Wellington, Missouri area to live with her sister, Mildred Berlekamp and husband. There she met and married Luke Jenkins of Lexington, Missouri on November 26th, 1940. She celebrated 49 years of marriage to Luke before he passed away on February 7, 1990.
Together they raised six children, Phyllis Jean (Jenkins) Davis her step-daughter, William Louis "Bill" Jenkins, Larry Allen Jenkins, Iris Lee (Jenkins) Cobb all of Lexington, Missouri, Kevin Eugene Jenkins of Richmond, Missouri and Kimberlie Kay (Jenkins) Guinn of Columbia, Missouri. She was a loving and caring mother and lived long enough to enjoy being a 5th generation grandmother many times. She had 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren. She was also the last surviving Aunt for many loving and caring nieces and nephews.
She was baptized into the First Baptist Church of Lexington, Missouri in May of 1977. She enjoyed attending Bible Study, reading devotionals and the Bible and the fellowship of many friends during her time in Lexington. She was a proud member and past president of the Lexington Chapter Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She served as the Democrat Committee Chairwoman and was eager to help the late U.S. Representative Ike Skelton, Jr. with his inaugural election campaign as well as his re-election many times. She enjoyed tutoring the kindergarten children at Leslie Bell Elementary School in Lexington. Her hobbies included, entertaining large family gatherings and making homemade wine with her husband, fishing, gardening, quilting, crocheting, traveling and loved attending Kansas City Royals baseball games but she especially enjoyed the love of her family and friends.
