Nancy Gayle Cawvey

October 7, 1945 — February 23, 2021

Oct. 7, 1945- Feb. 23,2021

Nancy was the daughter of J. E. "Honey" Latimer and Lois Latimer of Independence Missouri. She had two brothers James "Jim" W. Latimer and Russell "Russ" J. Latimer. Her father Honey was a car dealer and friend of President Harry Truman. She graduated High School from Sunset Hill and spent two years studying nursing at Steven's College in Columbia, Missouri. There she met and married Thomas G. Ehler, of Lexington, Missouri and had two children, Patricia "Tricia" Ehler Smith and Thomas "Hank" Ehler.

Nancy spent the majority of her adult life in Warrensburg, Missouri where her daughter's family were also living. She enjoyed keeping tabs on everyone in the NFL, reading novels and her Bible, as well as watching her family grow up. She was a proud employee of Western Missouri Medical Center for decades as a Unit Secretary for the Obstetrics Department, welcoming new babies into the world.

She retired and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia soon after, it progressed quickly and she couldn't recognize or remember her friends or family during the last year of her life. She did, however, survive Covid-19 in the spring of 2020, only to later succumb to complications of aspiration pneumonia, passing peacefully in her sleep at Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia.

She is survived by her children Tricia Ehler (Wes)Smith and Hank Ehler; grandchildren Mandy (Chad) Weigand, Amber (Aaron) Engelhart, Sadie (Rafael)Gonzalez, Dusty Ehler Shields, Beth Ehler, and Tie Ehler; great grandchildren Keaytyn Shields, Kacie Engelhart, and Mia Gonzalez; brother Russ Latimer, a restaurateur in Clearwater Florida and niece Hope Latimer, Los Angeles California.

Nancy requested that everyone help her to support the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers. She requested there not be a funeral service, and she hoped that those who loved her would get together and dine out to share food and memories, and continue to make new memories together in her absence.
