Mildred Lorene Gillespie, 99, of Independence, MO pasted away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Village Care Center in Lee's Summit, MO. Visitation will be 1 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Lexington United Methodist Church with services following at 2 p.m.. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery in Lexington, MO.
Mildred Gillespie was born February 22, 1917 in Lexington, MO, the daughter of Harrison and Lillian Geary O'Dell. She married Carl E. Gillespie October 31, 1938 in Independence, MO. Mildred was a LPN and worked at Lexington Memorial Hospital (Lafayette Regional Hospital) in Lexington, MO for many years.
Mildred is survived by her two sons Carl Jr., of Independence and Kenneth of Albany, MO., and a sister Barbara Jean Stratton of Harrison, AR. Three grandchildren: Brigette, Kenneth, and Kathy. Two step-granddaughters, Nancy, and Yvonne. A sister, Barbara Jean Stratton, Harrison, AR., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Glenn and Harrison O'Dell.
