Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524, with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Inurnment with Military Rites will be at the Odessa City Cemetery. Duane was born on November 5, 1936 in Mayview, MO to Earl and Edith Lyle (Barker) Lockhart. Duane earned his High School Diploma from the United States Army. While working at the Town & Country Shoe Factory he met Dolores Jeane Coupland and on February 4, 1955 she and Duane married in Odessa, MO. He served the United States Army from January 13, 1960 and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1962. He was stationed at Ft. ORD, California for two years. After serving in the Army he and Dolores moved back to Odessa and have resided here since. Duane began working at Bendix in 1959 to 1975 with two years away during his time in the Army. He was a Time Keeper and a Pipe Fitter. After leaving Bendix he went to work for the Fairfax BOP Plant in Kansas City as a Pipe Fitter. Duane also had his own Heating and Cooling business which he started in 1976. He enjoyed his time on the farm and his lake house at the Ozarks.
In addition to his wife, Duane is survived by two daughters, Sandra Jeane Fischer and husband Timothy of Odessa, MO and Linda Darlene Long and husband Steven of Higginsville, MO; four grandchildren, Brandi Fischer of Independence, MO, Alicia Fischer of Odessa, MO, Colby Long and wife Lacey of Higginsville, MO and Cabot Long of Columbia, MO; a brother Calvin Lockhart of North Kansas City, MO and a sister Laverna Rodenberg of North Kansas City, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl (Bud) Lockhart, Orville, Leo, Harold and Martin Lockhart; and two sisters, Emmajean Humbird and Marjorie Cobb.
