Maxwell “Max” Taylor Boyd, 34, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO surrounded by his loving family, friends, and loved ones.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 100 Hwy OO, Odessa, MO, 64076. Interment with Military Rites will be in May Cemetery, rural Chula, MO. Max was born on July 30, 1990, in Kansas City, MO to Gregory Mark Boyd and Donna Sue (Kirk) Boyd. He graduated in 2009 from Shawnee Mission South High School in Shawnee Mission, KS. Max was a Combat Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served two tours in Afghanistan as a machine gunner in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While serving, Max was awarded the following awards, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 Stars, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. After serving, Max started working for Transocean and later for Independence Drilling, as a Roughneck. He was currently employed with US Engineering as a Plumber/Welder. Max is a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post 5675 in Odessa, MO, Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 8, and the First Baptist Church in Odessa. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Max enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and being outdoors.

Max is survived by his two loving sons, Gregory Taylor Boyd and Gabriel James Boyd; his mother, Donna Sue Boyd of Greenfield, MO; a sister, Morgan (Curtis) Thomas of Lee’s Summit, MO; two brothers, Shaun Hart of Conroe, Texas and Justen (Samantha) Seibolt of Overland Park, KS; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Max was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Mark Boyd.
