Mary Alice McFadden, 98, of Lexington passed away May 4, 2023, at Meyer Care Center, Higginsville. She was born October 22, 1924, in Lexington, the daughter of Lawrence and Malinda (Uphaus) Marcks. She was a lifelong area resident. She attended a one room rural school and was a 1942 graduate of Lexington High School. On March 12, 1943, she married Virgil McFadden, Jr. of Lexington. She was a homemaker, farm wife and was employed as an Education Assistant at the Higginsville State School.
Mary Alice was an active member of 4-H, a 4-H leader and a charter member of the Prairie Homemakers Extension Club. She was a lifelong member of the Lexington United Methodist Church, and was active in the Women of the Church, sang in the church choir, was a sponsor of the Youth Fellowship, sewed sleeping bags and served on the Building Committee for the current church building. Mary enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending every moment with her family.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Raymond and Larry Marcks; one son-in-law, one step grandson, one sister-in-law and five nephews.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Woodward of Higginsville, James (Pamela) McFadden of Midland, Michigan and Malinda McFadden of Vancouver, Washington; one grandson; five step-grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Lexington United Methodist Church. 1211 S. Business HWY 13. Lexington, Missouri. 64067, with funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Methodist Church. Memories and condolences may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com.
