Mary Lee (Thrasher) Chiddix, 97, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Oak Grove Nursing and Rehab in Oak Grove, MO.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Buckner Hill Cemetery in Buckner, MO. Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice in care of the Ralph O. Mary was born on September 2, 1919 in Ector, Texas to Jessie “Ed” & Myrtle (Jones) Thrasher. She married David William Chiddix on November 21, 1938 in Liberty, MO. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1985. Mary and David owned and operated Dave and Mary’s Restaurant in Odessa for 17 years. Mary was a member of the VFW Post 5675 Women’s Auxiliary in Odessa. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Mary enjoyed traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks to spend time at her and Dave’s cabin.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Ruby Vanarsdall of Buckner, MO; five nieces and nephews; Barbara Andrews and husband Don of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Jim Helm of Blue Springs, MO, Marilyn Bryan and husband Don of Hendersonville, NC, Donna Bree and husband Don of Lee’s Summit, MO and Dennis Vanarsdall and wife Cindy of Buckner, MO; and many great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a brother, James “Buddy” E. Thrasher.
