Marjorie Ann Smoot

Marjorie Ann Smoot, 94, of Odessa Missouri, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at Anew Healthcare in Odessa, Missouri, surrounded by her family.   

A Celebration of life will take place at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Greenton Baptist Church 9345 Greenton Road, Odessa, MO 64076. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery Braymer, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation. Marjorie was born September 6, 1929, in Polo, Missouri, to Forrest Charles and Opal Pearl (Robinson) Fields. She graduated in 1947 from Polo High School. Marjorie spent 20 plus years working as a bookkeeper for Yellow Freight. Marjorie was united in marriage on May 29, 1949, to Herbert L. Smoot in Plattsburg, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2014. Marjorie was an active member of Greenton Baptist Church. Along with spending time with family, Marjorie enjoyed reading, crocheting, and being an artist.    

Marjorie is survived by four children, James (Kim) Smoot of Odessa, MO, Steven (Cindy) Smoot of Springfield, MO, Cheryl (Mark) Steiner of Odessa, MO, and Susan (Ronald) Jones of Odessa, MO; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Along with both parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by three brothers, Duane Fields, David, Fields, and Donald Fields.
