Marie Eloise (Thomas) Barnes, 91 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at home.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2024, at Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery, 13512 MO-Bus 13, Lexington, MO, 64067.  Memories of Marie and condolences for her family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245.

 

Marie was born on January 5, 1933, in Lexington, MO to George and Florence (Haase) Thomas.  She graduated in 1950 from Lexington High School.  On July 13, 1963, Marie was united in marriage to Elvin Barnes in Las Vegas, NV.  Elvin preceded Marie in death on October 25, 2014.  Marie worked many years at Camelot Restaurant in Higginsville, MO before retiring.   She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Lexington.  Marie was very active within the church, helping in many aspects, from taking attendance, mowing, and gardening.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Marie had a love for the outdoors, taking care of her yard, gardening, and baking for friends and family.  

 

Marie is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Greg) Vance of Lexington, MO; a granddaughter, Lisa Vance of Lexington, MO; a great-grandson, Austin Vance of Lexington, MO; a brother, Larry (Deb) Bersano of Lexington, MO; and many relatives and friends.  

 

Marie was preceded in death by her father, George Thomas; mother and stepfather, Florence and Lawrence Bersano, Sr.; and a brother, Gene Thomas.
