Marcia Lee Simmons

Marcia Lee (McConnell) Simmons, 70 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2^nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital.  Memories of Marcia and condolences for her family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.

Marcia was born on December 28, 1951, in Independence, MO to Charles Arthur and Constance Elanor (Foote) McConnell.  She graduated from Truman High School in Independence, MO.  After high school Marcia earned a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art.  On June 30, 1973, she was united in marriage to Dennis Chester Simmons in Independence, MO.  Marcia retired from the Odessa School District after 31 years of service to the Odessa High School, Special Education Department.  Marcia and Dennis had a love for classic cars and was a member of the Coupes Car Club in Blue Springs, MO.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Marcia enjoyed cooking, traveling, especially to Ventura, California, going to Navy Reunions, painting, and genealogy.  

Marcia is survived by her husband, Dennis Simmons of Odessa, MO; two sons, Matthew Stuart Simmons of Columbia, MO and Charles Chester Simmons of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Linda McConnell and husband Leo Kallenberger of Kansas City, MO; and many relatives and friends. 

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents.
