Margarita (Minjarez) Hicks

Margarita (Minjarez) Hicks, 88, of Independence, Missouri passed away on her birthday Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Wilshire at Lakewood Rehab Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.

Margarita was born July 9, 1936, in El Paso, Texas to Albino and Higinia (Villa) Minjarez. She graduated from Ysleta High School. With her nurturing heart, she worked at Just Like Grandma’s Child Care where she left a lasting impact on little lives. Margarita was a member of Central Baptist in Independence. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought such great joy to her life. Along with spending time with family and friends, Margarita loved shopping, flowers, jewelry, and animals. May her spirit of love live on through the lives she has touched. 

Margarita is survived by one son, Robert (Lynne) Hicks of Osceola, MO; two grandchildren, Penny Hicks, and Katlyn (Fulton) Wilhelm; six great grandchildren, Alexandria Manton, Shaylen Manton, Journey Hicks, Felix Wilhelm, Jasper Wilhelm, and Brynnleigh Wilhelm; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

Margarita was preceded in death by both her parents.
