Margaret “Mugs†Aleene (France) Rider, 82 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 12507 Mt. Tabor Rd., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Mugs was born on October 14, 1932 in Napoleon, MO to Cecil and Aleene (Brooker) France. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1950. On December 24, 1951 she married Carl Thomas “Tommy†Rider in Odessa. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2013. She worked at the Odessa Shoe Factory for four years before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Mugs loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening and camping. She and Tommy went almost every Saturday evening to the Pleasant Hill Music Show.
Survivors include five children, Leland Rider and wife Connie, Carla Halsey and husband Roy, Donald Rider and wife Debbie and Cecil Rider and wife Kathy, all of Odessa, MO and Margie White and husband Rick of Mayview, MO; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; two brothers, Marion France and wife Shirley of Colorado Springs, CO and Ray Allen France and wife Peggy of Bates City, MO; two sisters, Roberta Watts of Smithville, MO and Verda Wheatley and husband Larry of Odessa, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Tommy, Mugs was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Rider and two brothers, John Robert France and Cecil Lee France.
