Joan Meierer, 88, of Lexington, MO passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Riverbend Health & Rehabilitation Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington, MO. (660) 259-2245 Visitation will be 10 a.m., until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Parrish, Higginsville or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Joan Riffle was born April 23, 1927 in Gravois Mills, MO, the daughter of Charles and Margaret E. Myer Riffle. She married William Lee Meierer on February 2, 1946 in Gravois Mills. Joann was a nurse’s aide at Lexington Memorial Hospital and Lafayette Manor Care Center and later as seamstress at Dunbrooke Shirt Co. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Joan is survived by children: Larry Meierer (Connie), Lexington, Donald Meierer (Cathy), Lexington, James “Jim” Meierer (Karen), Lexington, David Meierer (Marlene), Manhattan, KS, Louis Meierer, Stover, MO, Patrick Meierer (Carroll), Lexington, Robert Meierer (Robin), Blue Springs, MO, Judy Jett, Lexington, and Ella Wallace (Scott), Waverly. There are 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on February 8, 2007, her parents, son, Christopher Meierer, daughter, Sue Spease, grandson, Joseph Spease, great-granddaughter, Ashley Spease and Sky-Lynn Rose Meierer, brothers: Francis, Marion, Charles, Wayne, and Alfred; sisters: Elizabeth, Doris, Mary, and Roberta.
