Maggie Lou (Bayless) Baressi, 83, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at her residence in Odessa surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Odessa, 100 HWY OO, Odessa, MO 64076. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Maggie was born April 5, 1941, in Odessa, Missouri to Clyde Everett and Louise (Fizer) Bayless. Maggie's career in cosmetology began at Jones Store, where she worked for two years before spending 22 years with Thelma Brisbin. She later became the proud owner and operator of Superior Cuts and More, where her creativity and skill brought joy to countless clients. Maggie was united in marriage on July 5, 1989, to Leo Marion Barresi in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2014. An active member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa, Maggie drew strength from her faith and the community she loved dearly. Maggie was a member of the Women of the Moose. Maggie was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. Along with spending time with family and friends, Maggie enjoyed tending to her garden.
Maggie is survived by three step children, Andrew (Larry Summers) Barresi of Kansas, Jeanne (Thomas) Townsend of Lee’s Summit, MO and Anita Mathews of Lee’s Summit, MO; four step grandchildren, Marra (Michael) McClure, Lauren Townsend, Garrad Mathews, Alyson (Daniel) Martin; five step great grandchildren, Harper McClure, Madison McClure, Marylou Owsley Townsend, Adayln Martin, Jack Martin, and Miles Grubbs; two sisters, Betty Morris of Independence, MO and Janie Terry of Odessa, MO; two brothers, James (Carolyn) Bayless of Mayview, MO and David Bayless of Odessa, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with both her parents and husband, Maggie was preceded in death a sister, Ruth Snedden, five brothers, Calvin Bayless, Cecil Bayless, Buford Bayless, Paul Bayless and Clyde Bayless, Jr. at infancy.
