Lela Maribeth Thompson, 76, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the First Christian Church, 224 W. Dryden St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm.. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Maribeth was born on July 21, 1940 to Marion & Della (Epperson) Smith. She graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1958. On May 4, 1963 she married Donald K. Thompson in Kansas City, MO, in March of 2002 he preceded her in death. Maribeth was a member of the First Christian Church in Odessa and the Xi Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a founding board member of the House of Hope and a former board member of the Odessa Outreach. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Maribeth enjoyed volunteering, sewing and cooking.
Maribeth is survived by a daughter, Susanne Thompson-Wright and husband Jim of Kansas City, MO; 3 grandchildren, Donald Thomson and Erika Thompson, both of Odessa, MO and Robert Wright of Kansas City, MO; 2 great grandchildren, Lucas and Brailynn Snowden; and a sister, Sue Atkinson of Odessa, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maribeth was preceded in death by a son Bradley Thompson and a sister, Barbara Ann Waugh.
