Lawrence "Larry" Ray Turner, 74, of Bates City, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 South Second Street Odessa, Missouri 64067. A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Concord Cemetery in Bates City. Immediately following will be a celebration of life lunch at the Concord Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials are suggested to Concord Baptist Church, Hill 4-11 Association or Veterans Memorial. Lawrence was born on September 5, 1950, in Odessa, Missouri to Burton and Delores (Ruckdeschell) Turner. In 1968, he graduated from Odessa High School. After high school, Lawrence was drafted to Vietnam from 1970 to 1971, proudly serving in the United States Army. Lawrence worked for Sears as a maintenance worker for 25 years, then retired from Lake City Ammunition as a tool setter. Lawrence was united in marriage on June 25, 1983, to Rose Marie (McFee) Turner in Oak Grove. Lawrence was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion in Oak Grove, VFW Post 6603, Hill 4-11 Association, and was a board director for Concord Cemetery. In addition to his deep love for family, Lawrence had a passion for old tractors and could often be found tinkering in his shop, bringing life back into machines and projects that others may have discarded. He enjoyed traveling and watching movies across various genres. He took great pride in building fences, handling cattle, and sharing the hard work that comes with country life. Lawrence was a devoted husband to his wife, Rose Marie Turner, and a cherished father who found joy in working alongside his daughter on their farm.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Turner of Bates City, MO; three children, Wendy Schafer Turner of TN, Kelee (Mike) Turner Brucato of Plover, WI, and Michelle (Brian) Finkeldei of Alma, MO; two grandchildren, Bia Brucato and Gus Finkeldei; one sister, Margaret (Norman) Gardner of Bates City, MO; one foster sister, Jo Ann Bonadonna; two brothers, Harold (Sheila) Turner of Bates City, MO and Bruce (Nancy) Turner of Bates City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by both parents.
